So as you may know, Listen Design Studio operates out of the coolest (my humble opinion) historic building in downtown Lexington called “The Livery”. We have a really unique vibe going. Using collaboration, we blend creativity and business in a way that is truly unique. Justice Film Festival

I traveled to Philadelphia last week to represent the film 3801 Lancaster at the Justice Film Festival. The film’s production company, Vinegar Hill, is one of the coolest groups of people on the planet. They not only produce incredibly beautiful work, they believe in their projects and have such kind and generous hearts for the people involved. The festival was a sort of homecoming for me. I was able to spend time and even meet for the first time some of my favorite directors, producers, and film industry colleagues I have been working with remotely for the past few years. The film ended up winning “Best Short Form Documentary” and I could not be more pleased with the film and the crew that made it all happen.

Honored at The UK Game

I had the honor of going out to center court of legendary Rupp Arena last week. The Alumni Association wanted to honor my involvement with Blood Brother after its successful showing at Sundance in January. The experience was insanely memorable and I am proud to be a wildcat! The Cats beat Vandy and I was there to see it up close. Go Blood Brother and go Cats!

Blood Brother: a film that I wrote some music for has won the US Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize at The 2013 Sundance Film Festival. This project was a real honor to work on and be a part of. The story, the crew, and the mission of this movie is something that you wait around a lifetime to be involved with. So happy about its success and the future of the film. Keep your eyes out for it!

The Livery

We are comfortably moved into our new offices at The Livery. This creative space is a historic Lexington landmark that has been remodeled over time by some friends and I. For all those that do not know, a “livery” is where horses and carriages were brought when people were passing through and staying in Lexington for business. It was a “horse hotel”. The original barn roof provides an amazing vibe to work and write in. I am very excited about the near future when I bring some string players in to record. The acoustics are going to be unreal. I have had three contracts since moving in and so far the new studio and wiring has proved to be very efficient. I feel very blessed to work where I do with who I do. If you are ever in Lexington, come by for a visit: it is located in the heart of downtown by the Kentucky Theatre. Oh, and wait til you see our refrigerator. -AJ
